you are already a member of the food society. We all are.

Let's Cross Pollinate

Let's Cross Pollinate

Let's Cross Pollinate

Our mission is to cross pollinate — over fields of food and thought, across kitchens and cultures, at tabletops and laptops.

All happy things are possible when we share what we know, grow, make and eat. We think it makes for a better society. Taste the food from another place or another family's table, and you will know the world a bit better.

The Food Society is our table, and everyone is welcome. We are inspired by diversity and are especially interested in points of intersection and cross-cultural influences. Categories, to us, matter far less than connection: new flavors, shared experiences and meaningful memories made together. Food taught us this. There is no binary to a great recipe; there is only mixture, blending,  balance and delight.

Food brings us all together. So join us and just be you. Welcome.

Culinary Curiosity

Let's Cross Pollinate

Let's Cross Pollinate

Our decisions, actions and culinary experiences are based on values we believe are fundamental to a healthy life and world:

Respect, honor and explore different cultures, traditions, foods, cooking techniques and celebrations. Taste the world with robust curiosity.

Advance understanding and appreciation of other people, regions, cultures and menus by learning from them. Experiences nourish just like food does.

Gather together, even if online, to connect and experience the joy that food brings through mutual work and reward: planning, preparing, cooking and dining. The conversations along the way really are  the spice of life.

Love and nourish our earth and the people who bring the gift of food to life. Whether beekeepers or cheesemakers, herb gardeners or artisan  butchers, farmers or canners, everything that truly nourishes us comes from this one planet.

Discover Delicious

Let's Cross Pollinate

Discover Delicious

Probably a bit like you, we are tired of arrogant chefs and reality-TV sideshows. Nobody knows it all, and not everything is a competition. There may be a place for all that, but it's not here.

We love learning in natural ways, and  always look to  find or rediscover the foods and flavors that come from diverse, real kitchens and cultures. Best kept secrets are meant to be shared and places off the beaten path are where we want to take you.

We bet you like to learn by exploring too and may just need to be pointed in the right direction. Curiosity drives us. Perfection is not the goal; discovering delicious food that you can appreciate, make and share is.

That is why our classes are both highly informative, gently educational and comfortably casual. We want to gather around the kitchen table or stove with you, and be helpful guides. We are all part of The Food Society.

Let's learn together.
